Giles finally makes it outside again Monday, very late morning, to find that the sky is overcast but the experiment seems to be over. Anyone who knows the sort of week he's had will be pleased to note that he looks a good deal less like hell and a good deal less tired than he has for almost a month, now. He'd hoped that he could see the sun, but there's too much else to do to worry about that. Giles spends a few hours around the village, running some errands on autopilot while his mind processes the last couple of weeks. A new jacket, groceries, catching up on work at the library, in that order. There are other jobs to do, of course, but those three wind up taking precedence.
And throughout all that time, Giles keeps an eye out for people - people he might need to explain himself to, people he might owe apologies, people he'd just really like to check up on. It had been a very long experiment. He's cautious as he goes, uneasy, because there are also people that he's hurt this week and he knows that he'll have to face that. But he feels like he's inching back towards normal and he's seeing the world as a human again, as himself again, and that helps somewhat.
Fourth order of business is a little unusual, but after all of that is over and done with Giles can be found sitting by the fountain, out of the way of foot traffic, guitar in hand. It takes a frustratingly long time to tune and the cold isn't helping the strings, but that's his own fault. He carefully tunes the instrument, checking each string, and only after he's satisfied does he begin playing. And, okay, he's really pretty good. He clearly knows what he's doing, here, and while his taste in music may be more than a little strange, it's not too bad, right? Eventually, after he's settled into the playing, Giles starts singing along, adding his voice to a few of his songs. They range from the sad to the upbeat, from the power ballads to the strange. He really is pretty good at it, and after a while it's clear that he's enjoying himself.]
